In order to make your creative writing more interesting its a good idea to spice it up. Here are some ways you can do this:
Instead of always saying 'said' you can change that to other words like whispered, mumbled, roared and so on. Obviously, the dialogue tag should be appropriate to what is being said.
Think carefully what verbs you use in a sentence. Verbs are the main spice in a sentence since those words that are 'doing' the action. It is the action that moved the story on. For example, 'Mark walked down the street' is a bit boring, whereas 'Mark skipped down the street' is more interesting. It get the reader to think why is a grown adult skipping. Maybe Mark is very happy or maybe he is a strange person.
Write in the active voice rather in the passive voice. The active voice is where a person is doing something directly, rather than something that is happening indirectly to them. For example 'Jenny walked down the church after she married John,' versus 'Jenny had walked down the church after she had gotten married to John.' The first sentence is more direct and immediate. You want the sentences you write to be immediate.
